‘Blindspot’ (Season 3): Keeping Secrets

The third season of Blindspot returned to NBC last week, starting with the unexpected low-on-intense-action scene of Jane Doe and Kurt Weller getting married, surrounded by their friends and loved ones. As that scene continued, viewers got to see Jane and Weller as they began their married life together in Colorado only to have it interrupted by armed intruders, who were hell-bent on claiming the bounty placed on Jane’s head.

As that season premiere rolled out, viewers got to see why Jane left Weller, how Weller found her after 18 months of searching and what really happened to Reade, Zapata and Patterson. At the end of that episode is when viewers learned that the members of the reunited team had secrets that they were keeping.

It was a question of how soon – or even if – the team members would come clean with each other. Thankfully, Jane was the first to give in – although she didn’t seem intent on keeping her secret quiet, at least not from Kurt, for too long. Since it was revealed in Friday’s episode that Jane worked K&R (kidnapping and rescue), the money and passports she hid in the vent of their apartment came from those endeavors to help other people. That work will certainly help since Weller used all of his money in tracking her down and they REALLY need the cash.

The other secrets, though, may be a bit harder in coming to the forefront, but let’s take a look at what we (sort of) know:

• Roman told Weller in the season premiere that he either helped with unraveling one of the tattoos on Jane’s body OR he would tell Jane about “what happened in Berlin.”

What exactly did Weller do in Berlin and how does Roman seem to know so much about it? Whatever happened is obviously serious enough that Weller doesn’t want Jane to know about it? What do you think actually happened? When will Weller tell Jane the truth and, more importantly, how will she react to the revelation?

• There is obviously some kind of history between Patterson and Rich.DotCom in the time that Jane was gone and after she left the FBI for Silicon Valley.

Did they have a romantic tryst? That is almost too much for me to comprehend given how much ire she always had for him. Or, did he have something to do with creating the Wizardville app? If it’s the latter, I can’t imagine Rich keeping his mouth shut about it. If it’s the former, I can’t believe Patterson would have even considered that.

• Zapata – who has been working for the CIA since Jane’s disappearance – seemed to have a big secret with Jake Keaton [the girl responsible for Jane being tortured back in the day – still no water under the bridge for me where he is concerned, sorry!].

Given that they are the CIA the secret is probably huge, but just what in the world happened? Is it something bad that Zapata got caught up in? How does it relate to Weller, Reade, Jane and/or Patterson?

What are your thoughts on all the secrets? Do you have any theories? When do you think revelations will be made? Please share your thoughts in our comments section below.

The next new episode of the third season of ‘Blindspot’ will air on NBC on Friday, November 10 at 8/7c.
