‘Teen Wolf’ (Season 6): Arming the Army

Since the very first introduction of Gerard Argent (Battlestar Galactica’s alum Michael Hogan) in the season premiere of the second season of Teen Wolf, it has been abundantly clear that he has a jones on for ending the supernatural race within Beacon Hills.

In Sunday night’s latest episode of the thriller’s sixth and final season, viewers learned the startling truth that Gerard has even wider reaching intentions – if the map that Scott and Malia confiscated from his weapons’ armory is to be believed, that is. He has plans to eliminate the supernatural from every corner of the globe.

But, he has to get rid of Scott and his pack in Beacon Hills first. And what is the best way to do that? By arming the Army; giving weapons from his armory to every able-bodied person in that little California town, who have been scared to death by the plethora of supernatural beings or strong-armed into becoming a member of this army.

That being said, though, Scott and his team are not going to go down without a fight. However, given the cliffhanger ending of Sunday night’s new episode, which find one of the adults in Scott’s home – most likely Scott’s own mother Melissa – severely injured in the siege conducted by Gerard’s newly-formed army, is going to put a massive kink in any plans they may have been trying to formulate against their ever-growing enemies.

Key among those enemies – other than Gerard, of course – is the new Beacon Hills guidance counselor Tamora Monroe (new recurring guest star Sibongile Mlambo), who has quickly proven to be a very formidable foe for Scott and his pack. From her very first introduction it was clear there was more to her than meets the eye; but just how far she would go became apparent in the showdown outside the Sheriff’s station in the episode entitled “Pressure Test” back on August 20.

What has also been rather unexpected is that one-time foe Theo Raeken (recurring guest star Cody Christian) has become an ally to Scott and his pack. But, how long will that alliance last? We’ve known since almost the beginning that Theo has only ever truly looked out for himself; but will he stay “loyal” – if that is possible for him – given Gerard’s over-all plan to destroy all supernatural beings?

For now, Scott and his pack will need to figure out how to deal with all of Beacon Hills seemingly being weaponized by Gerard, becoming an army that they may very well not be able to defeat. Even with former pack members, including Derek, Stiles, Jackson and Ethan, expected to make a reappearance in Beacon Hills, it is doubtful that will be enough to end the war without a lot of casualties.

Do you agree that it was Scott’s mom who was gravely injured in that attack on their home? Do you feel that any of them are going to make it out of Beacon Hills alive? What do you think it is going to take to stop Gerard’s army? Please share your thoughts on the show’s final season so far in our comments section below.

The next new episode of the sixth and final season of ‘Teen Wolf’ will air on MTV on Sunday, September 10 at 8/7c.
