‘Supernatural’ (Season 12): The Hunters Are Being Hunted (Again!)

Season 12

For 12 seasons now, the brothers Winchester on Supernatural have been hunting all the things that go bump in the night. Ghosts, demons, winged-dragon men, pixies, fairies, witches, zombies, leviathans…hell, even necromancers from Nazi Germany.

The list of monsters for which Sam and Dean have tracked down and killed over the dozen years of episodes of the longest running show on The CW (nee The WB) are endless. The battles they have waged against demons and angels alike, Crawley, Lucifer, and even God’s sister Amara – just to name a few – well – it’s mind-boggling.

But this season it has become clear – thanks to the unexpected visit by Lady Toni Bevell – you remember the female, British member of the Men of Letters – you know the one – she shot Sam, tortured him, bedded him in one of his worst nightmares and nearly took his life as well as Dean before Mama Winchester stepped in; before the kibosh was put on by her superior – that the brothers Winchester are being hunted.

You got that, right. The hunters are being hunted! (Again.)

In the world of ‘Supernatural,’ though, that’s not really that surprising given that it’s not the first nor will it be the last time that Sam and Dean are being hunted. But I have a feeling that this new adversary – known as Mr. Ketch – just might be their most formidable foe. And that’s saying a lot given all the foes for which the boys have encountered over the past dozen years.

As of right now, though, it would seem that Mr. Ketch is doing nothing more than cleaning up behind the brothers Winchester. Case in point last week when he went after that poor young girl who was being forced to torture herself by her own mother, who thought she was possessed and had to cleanser herself of the devil. The girl had powers much like what Sam possessed in the early days of the show and was, at least in Sam and Dean’s eyes, an innocent.

Mr. Ketch and the British League of the Men of Letters obviously don’t share that opinion, as he ruthlessly tracked her down and shot her in that small town bus stop bathroom. Do you think he will do the same thing to that young kid from last night’s episode – you know the Nazi progeny who turned against his own father and was told to run by Sam and Dean? I have a feeling that kid won’t make it much farther than the young girl from last week. What do you think?

But what I really want to know is what does he have planned for Sam and Dean. Will he just continue to follow them around the country, cleaning up after them? Will he make himself known to them later in the season, forcing them into yet another showdown? And if that showdown does happen, what kind of outcome will there be? This isn’t a case of good versus evil because they are all Men of Letters. Technically they are supposed to be on the same side. But are they? Will Mr. Ketch become a deadly foe to Sam and Dean?

What do you think will happen? Please share your thoughts in our comments section below and make sure to catch the next new episode of the 12th season of ‘Supernatural,’ which will air on The CW on Thursday, November 17 at 9/8c.
