On the third day of Comic Con, the cast of the former CBS now The CW series Supergirl took to the stage to talk to fans about the show. The panelists included Melissa Benoist, Chyler Leigh, David Harewood, Mehcad Brooks, Jeremy Jordan and newly announced Superman portrayer Tyler Hoechlin as well as executive producer Sarah Schechter.

A sizzle reel of season one was screened first and then the panel got down to business with Sarah sharing that they are not only thrilled and excited about the big move from CBS to The CW (which is the home of nearly all of the DC-based dramas) but also about the much-anticipated crossover episodes that are being planned for Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash and Arrow.

The questions were fast and furious during the panel, including the following:

• Melissa was then asked how it has been for her portraying Supergirl in the show’s first season. She shared, “I have done things I had no idea I could do”;

• The entire cast agreed that they all “felt like a team” from the pilot;

• When David was asked what it was like keeping the secret about his character – that he was actually the Martian Manhunter known as J’onn J’onzz – he shared, “at first I didn’t know,” but he said it was hard to keep the secret once he learned;

• Chyler shared that during season one viewers got to see her character, Supergirl/Kara’s adopted sister Alex, either at the DEO or with her sister, but in season two we’ll “see Alex outside of that”;

• Mehcad was asked about starting a romance with Kara and he slyly shared “that new relationships will have ups and downs”

• Jeremy was asked what he thought about his character Wynn always seeming to fall for the villains. He shared that “he went from this uncomplicated guy (and he) grew more confident” over the season;

• Tyler was then questioned about landing the coveted role of Superman and he shared that it has been “incredibly surreal…there’s a responsibility to that character…(and I’m) really excited” about it;

• Sarah later chimed in that “we have a supergirl playing Supergirl,” sharing that Melissa is everything she seems to be. Chyler also shared that she “learned the definition of grace” from working with Melissa. She further shared that Melissa is “a lovely human being”.

• Mehcad had some nice things to say about Jeremy too, sharing that he is “one of the best actors I’ve ever encountered…(he’s) one of my favorites.”

As for spoiling any details about season two, Sarah revealed that the Maggie Sawyer character will be introduced. She also stated that “we are proud to have strong badass women on TV.” She further shared that Ian Gomez (of Cougar Town fame) will guest star as well as Chris Woods (from The Vampire Diaries and Containment) will also guest star. In fact, she shared that he will be in the pod (which was the closing scene in the season finale). Lastly, she restated that the one and only Lynda Carter (TV’s Wonder Woman) will be guesting as the President of the United States.

‘Supergirl’ will premiere on its new home – The CW – on October 10.
