Comic Con 2016 Report: DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

DC's Legends of Tomorrow --"Legendary"

The DC Comics based panels on the third day of Comic Con continued with The CW’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, featuring current cast members Brandon Routh, Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell, Victor Garber, Arthur Darvill and Franz Drameh as well as new cast members Maisie Richardson-Sellers and Nick Zano along with executive producers Marc Guggenheim and Phil Klemmer.

Since production on the second season had just started last week, they weren’t able to give a sneak peek at the new season, but they did have a great sizzle reel that took a look back at the debut season.

Naturally, the executive producers were asked what they could share about the second season with Marc sharing that the characters Doctor Mid-Nite, Stargirl and Obsidian – from the Justice Society of America – will be introduced plus Vixen [to be played by Richardson-Sellers] will return as well as Commander Steel. He also shared that within the first frame of the season premiere, Oliver Queen (from sister series Arrow) will be featured and Damien Darhk and Jonah Hex will be back too.

When asked about working together as Firestorm, Victor shared he “thought it would be hard to move on from Robbie Amell (who played his other half of Firestorm, Ronnie Raymond)” but “Franz (is so) talented and funny…(it’s a) thrill to work with him.”

Caity then teased that viewers “can expect some romance for Sarah,” but she also joked that “it’s hard to find love when you travel through time on a spaceship.”

Brandon then chimed in that Ray has one wish “to unite the team once more…he wants them to be a well-oiled machine…and he’d like to see them (eventually) ride (off) into the sunset.”

More season two reveals were made by Phil when he shared that there is “gonna be much more mysteries” this season because “there will be multiple bad guys.” Some of the villains he was willing to reveal included Reverse Flash (Matt Letscher reprising the role) and John Barrowman, who was brought out on stage to join the cast for part of the panel. He also shared that Wentworth Miller will be back appearing as Captain Cold (even though he sacrificed his life at the end of season one.

Maisie and Nick were then asked who they think their characters will click or clash with during the second season. Maisie thinks that her Vixen will click with Mick Rory (aka Heat Wave) and probably clash with Sarah while Nick thinks his character – Dr. Nate Heywood – will click with Sarah while he will probably clash with Rory

During the audience Q&A portion of the panel, each cast member was asked which superhero they wanted to be when they were little kids. The answers were as follows:

• Franz – Batman
• Nick – Superman
• Maisie – Spiderman
• Brandon – Superman (ironic much)
• Caity – Batgirl
• John – Captain America
• Dominic – The Invisible Man
• Victor – he joked that he simply wanted to grow up
• Arthur – one of the Thundercats

And, of course, there was a Doctor Who reference during the audience Q&A with Arthur joking that when he would read the scripts he kept reading Dominic’s lines because his character’s name is Rory (which is – naturally – the character Arthur played several seasons on the long-running BBC classic series).

The second season of ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ will air its season premiere on The CW on October 13.
