‘Beauty And the Beast’ (Season 4): To Paris With Love

BAtB 2016 Premiere

It’s been two months of calm (before the storm) for Catherine and Vincent on The CW series Beauty And the Beast, which returned last night for its final season on the air. The newly married couple were in Paris. It was clear from the outset that Vincent wanted them to enjoy their honeymoon but Catherine was (as usual) just a little too worried about when the next shoe would drop.

And, her words became a self-fulfilling prophecy as they were contacted by J.T., who told them of the troubles that were building back home in New York.

It would seem that J.T. – who is back at teaching at one of the local universities – learned from a pushy student that a well-known blogger was writing about Beasts and had proof of their existence. This revelation, of course, set him off to his girlfriend Tess’s office at the precinct – she’s back being the Captain and thoroughly enjoying no “Beast” cases for the last two months.

As it turned out, there was a new killer on the scene. A killer who not only tortured the blogger but also Agent Russo, the man who helped hide the truth of Vincent’s existence from the public. Worse yet, the killer was getting closer and closer to our lead couple because he learned about Catherine from breaking into the agent’s classified case files.

What is their solution? They used Catherine as bait and their plan worked a little too well as she was taken by the killer, who turned out to be an exotic animal poacher bent on getting a $5 million dollar bounty that had been placed on the head of any Beast he could track down. In the end, of course, Catherine and Vincent were able to stop the poacher from taking either of them down, but the big question now is: Who the hell could this new threat be that has extremely deep pockets?

Elsewhere, J.T. and Tess are getting ready to move in together and while they are both excited about taking this next step in their relationship, J.T. shared with Tess that he misses making a difference. Granted, he (nor any of them, for that matter) want to go back to the days of being on the run, looking over their shoulder at every turn and being worried about what will happen next. But he wants to feel valuable. I’m not sure what he will do next in order to achieve that euphoric feeling, though. Hopefully not something that will risk his life.

What did you think of the season premiere of the show? Were you pleased to see even a small glimpse of Vincent and Catherine’s honeymoon? Who do you think this new threat could be and why do they have a bounty out on Beasts? Given that the show is in its final season, do you think any of them will get the normal life they all so desperately want? Also, what did you think of Heather hooking up with that EMT so quickly? Do you see him as a threat to Catherine and Vincent? Please share your thoughts in our comments section below.

The next episode of the fourth and final season of ‘Beauty And the Beast’ will air on The CW on Thursday, June 9 at 9/8c.
