‘Once Upon a Time’ (Season 5): A Bicycle Not Built For Two

Hades and Zelena

Who could possibly love the most hated man or woman in all of the world (or the underworld for that matter)?

Well, if you live in the fairytale world of Once Upon a Time it would seem those two most reviled of characters – the God Hades who rules the Underworld and the Wicked Witch of the mysterious world of Oz, otherwise known as Zelena – would, naturally, fall for each other.

And it’s all thanks to a bicycle not built for two.

How crazy is that to say, right? A bicycle helped Hades fall in love with the Wicked Witch, but were his feelings reciprocated?

Yes and no!

Zelena seemed to want to believe that someone could love her, but given how much hate she has expended towards everyone around her since turning into the Wicked Witch, she cannot and will not believe that anyone can love her.

Quite honestly I find it hard to believe that either of them could love anyone (or more specifically anything) except for the hatred in their hearts, but I guess even the most hated man and woman in all of the world deserves a little love.

Let’s also take a look at a few other oddities that are taking place in the show:

• Evidentally there is a phone booth in the Underworld that can be used to “haunt” someone in the ‘real’ world and Snow and Charming used it to sing a lullaby to their infant son Neal;
• Henry is writing more pages of the “Once Upon a Time” book, but he doesn’t seem to remember writing those pages – how exactly is that happening?
• Belle, Robin and Zelena’s unnamed baby and Zelena were transported to the Underworld by Rumple; and Belle, once learning the truth from Rumple [that he’s the Dark One again AND she’s pregnant – is your head spinning yet?!] wants him to fix things – but will he?; and,
• How are they all going to even get back to the ‘real’ world since Regina’s, Snow’s and Emma’s names are written on those gravestones basically trapping them in the Underworld because of the souls the team have saved since arriving there.

What did you think of this episode? More importantly, how do you feel about this season since the show returned for its extended hiatus? Have you liked the team’s travel to the Underworld? Do you want to see them return to their own world? And when they do, what then? Who or what will be the new ‘big bad’ they will have to face? Is it perhaps time (or beyond time) for the fairytales to all come to an end? And what end will that be for the characters: good, bad or otherwise. Do you think all of the characters will get a happy ending? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below.

The next new episode of the fifth season of ‘Once Upon a Time’ will air on ABC on Sunday, April 10 at 8/7c.
