POLL: Who is Your Favorite Earth-2 Character on The Flash?

Barry, Zoom, Cisco, Wells, Jesse, Joe, Ronnie, Caitlin, Jay, Henry, Iris - The Flash

Spoiler Alert! I will be talking about events from The Flash episodes up through “Escape from Earth-2.” If you have not viewed those episodes, and are spoiler sensitive, then please bookmark this article and come back after watching them.

Ever since the second season of The Flash premiered, we have been exposed to a multitude of Earth-2 characters. When Barry traveled in time at the end of season one in an attempt to save his mother’s life, he inadvertently opened up breaches that have allowed people from Earth-2 and potentially other Earths – alternate universes – to come to Earth-1; better known as our home.

Comic book readers are very familiar with the Multiverse, and have been waiting for it to appear on The Flash. Because I have not read the comics, I was not fully aware of this until I began reading online in order to be sure I had my facts straight about the characters we have seen in season two. I must say I do love alternate universes and time travel even though they can be confusing and contradictory.

For me, The Flash episodes that really opened up Earth-2 for the viewer, “Welcome to Earth-2” and “Escape from Earth-2,” were extremely entertaining; full of humor and action and mysteries! Seriously, what is more adorable than Barry and Cisco acting like geeky tourists! These two episodes gave us the doppelgangers for almost all of our main characters. Who do you like best?

Extra Geeky Barry Allen

Barry - The Flash

The Earth-2 version of Barry Allen is extra geeky. He wears glasses, and honestly, he reminds me a bit of the Daniel Jackson we saw in the first two seasons of Stargate SG-1. If you were thinking that Barry could not get any geekier, well, just watch these two episodes and you will be convinced that is not true! On Earth-2, Barry is still a forensic scientist for the Central City Police Department, but rather than pining for Iris, he is married to her!

Large and In Charge Iris West Allen

Iris - The Flash

On Earth-2, the member of the West family that is on the police force is not Joe – it is Iris! She is a police detective and is very self-confident and protective of Barry. That is probably a good thing, because Barry does not exactly inspire confidence with his physical abilities.

Angry Joe West

Joe - The Flash

The version of Joe found on Earth-2 is not happy with Barry. In fact, they actively dislike each other. And, because Barry is Joe’s son-in-law, Iris is unfortunately in the middle. The reason for Joe’s anger is that he feels Iris became a police officer because of Barry’s influence, and is now in danger with the threat from Zoom.

Powerful Zoom

Zoom - The Flash

There is a lot of speculation as to the identity of Zoom. What we do know for sure is that he is evil and powerful. His goal is to steal Barry’s speed so that he can become the fastest speedster. The issue is, can he be defeated? So far, in direct showdowns with Barry, Zoom has always come out on top. Even with Cisco’s technology Barry has still been defeated.

Conflicted Killer Frost

Killer Frost - The Flash

Earth-2’s Caitlin Snow is a meta-human. And, not just any meta-human – an evil meta-human who works for Zoom! Her power is just as imagined – she can freeze anything with a blast of her cold. Her power is much stronger than Captain Cold’s and she does not need a weapon to achieve it, just her hands!

Super Evil Reverb

Reverb - The Flash

So on Earth-1, Cisco is Vibe. On Earth-2, he’s Reverb, and he’s evil, the head henchman for Zoom. Um, I guess I need to make that was the head henchman for Zoom… until Zoom up and killed him for harming Barry! Yeah, Zoom is not your most patient villain. Reverb was pretty menacing; much more powerful than Vibe. He told Cisco that he too could become more formidable, and actually offered to help him learn to use his powers! Before he died, that is…

Dangerous Deathstorm

Deathstorm - The Flash

Like Caitlin, Ronnie’s alter ego on Earth-2 is also evil. He went by the name of Deathstorm, and dominated Dr. Stein, not allowing him to emerge. Unfortunately for Ronnie, he can’t seem to catch a break in any universe, because he too was killed by Zoom for intentionally harming Barry after capturing him. Deathstorm and Killer Frost both worked as enforcers for Zoom, under Reverb.

Nice Henry Hewitt

Hewitt - The Flash

The Earth-2 version of Henry Hewitt is not a meta-human as far as we know. He does work at Star Labs and is the nicest person you would want to meet, which is of course quite a stark contrast to his Earth-1 counterpart who is temperamental, arrogant, and egotistical. When Earth-1 Henry did not make the cut to join with Martin, he tried to kill Caitlin for revenge.

Mysterious Dr. Wells

Wells - The Flash

Ok, so yeah, Dr. Wells from Earth-2 had a secret agenda, but once it was revealed that he was trying to save his daughter from Zoom, he became a very sympathetic character. And, he confessed what he was doing before he stole all of Barry’s speed, so he tried to do the honorable thing.

Helpful Jay Garrick

Jay - The Flash

Earth-2’s speedster, Jay was the first person we know of to come to Earth-1. Apparently he was here for a while, watching Barry and his team and sizing them up. Once he did reveal himself, he played a very important part in helping fight Zoom. But, at the end of “Escape from Earth-2” – oh, no – he can’t be dead!

Unknown Jesse Wells Quick

Jesse - The Flash

Jesse is Dr. Wells’ daughter. She is the reason he was working with Zoom to steal Barry’s speed. We don’t know much about her yet but since she returned to Earth-1 with her dad in order to hide from Zoom, we are sure to get to know her better!

Enigmatic Dude with the Mask

Zoom's Prisoner - The Flash

In Zoom’s prison there was a third person who did not speak. He wore a mask, so we have no idea who he is or why he was there. Fans have lots of interesting theories about who he is, but will we ever find out? Barry did promise to return and free him, but now that the last breach was sealed, how will they accomplish that?

Someone Else

question mark

Did I forget someone? If so, please vote for this category and then tell me who I missed and why you liked them in the comments section below!

My favorite, because I have a special affinity for extra geeky types, is Earth-2 Barry. The fact that by the end of “Escape from Earth-2” he was fully on board with being a hero only makes me like him more! I hope this is not the last we see of Earth-2!

Now it is your turn to vote. Pick your favorite and then in the comments section below please tell me who you voted for and why! I love hearing your ideas.
