‘Pretty Little Liars’ (Season 6): “A” is Finally Revealed!

Pretty Little Liars Game Over, Charles Season 6 Episode 10 (10)

When Pretty Little Liars debuted on ABC Family back on June 8, 2010 how many of its viewers thought that six seasons later (yet only a couple years in story-telling time) would go by before the revelation of who “A” really was would be made? And how many of those fans can recall all the crazy, ape-shit moments that would happen throughout those six seasons?

It has been one hell of a roller coaster ride for the liars: Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer – not to mention Mona, who we all loved to hate and then, much to our surprise, couldn’t help but feel sorry for and eventually (albeit a little begrudgingly, or maybe that was just me) come to accept her as part of the liars “team”.

But with the revelation out there for all the world to see – and not just another fake off where we are misdirected with either an “A” wanna-be or an “A” pawn, we actually SEE “A” in all his/her glory and learn the whole story. If you haven’t for some reason seen last night’s big, summer finale, then you will want to be forewarned to not read any further, as there will be spoilers in this piece. Hang on to your hats.

CeCe Drake (nee Charles DiLaurentis) is “A”!

Let that sneak in…coz I know I sat watching the summer finale thinking this is yet another misdirect or they are simply giving us a show and the real “A” is going to be revealed at the very end and the game is going to start all over.

Well, the episode and the lengthy, complicated backstory, proved me wrong. Charles DiLaurentis was – if you are to believe CeCe Drake – actually a loving brother who was merely trying to help his baby sister; but his actions weren’t seen that way by his parents, who shipped him off to Radley when he was a little boy because of what he did to baby Allison.

As the episode rolled out and more and more of his/her story was explained, Charles never felt like Charles. He always wanted dresses and loved playing dress-up in his mother’s closet. Eventually he became she – now dubbed Charlotte – while Mama DiLaurentis led her husband to believe that their son Charles was dead.

I’m not going to attempt to dissect all the reveals that flowed out of one episode because it’s some pretty heady stuff and the liars (all 5 of them) quickly learned that Charlotte – now going by the nom de plume of CeCe Drake – not only tricked her own brother into dating her – yes, dating her (Ew! I know!!) – but also was the real “Wolf of Wall Street” (as uttered by Mona), which explains how “A” was always one step ahead of everyone else and how that elaborate cat and mouse game that planned out all these seasons was able to sustain itself for so very long. It makes one tired just thinking about all the work that went into all those elaborate schemes and set-ups not to mention the money that it cost to pay for it all.

In the end, though, CeCe finally uttered two simple words that brought such relief to the liars: “Game Over!” But is it, while we got to see Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer all head off to college, leaving Allison behind in Rosewood, we were shocked to see the five year jump with the four girls back at Rosewood High School, greeting Allison – who appeared to be a teacher – stating that someone was there – someone who had obviously been gunning for her. Dun, dun, dun! Who could that be? And, how will this impact the liars?

I guess we’ll have to wait for this winter when ‘Pretty Little Liars’ returns for the remainder of its sixth season on ABC Family. But in the meantime, I, for one, would love to hear what the fans have say about the reveal. Please share your comments below.
