In tonight’s episode, While at a NATO conference in Brussels, Martin gets his first assignment: to seduce and bug the head security analyst’s secretary, Linda. General Edel and his new aid bond on a trip to Brussels to meet with the top security. Lenora, Martin’s aunt in East Germany, emerges to tell him that his mother needs a kidney transplant. She takes his blood to see if he might be a match. Back in East Berlin, Martin’s fiancée, Annett, moves in to take care of Ingrid and reveals that she is pregnant with her son’s baby. When Martin reconnects with Linda, a secretary he met earlier in Bonn, he sleeps with her and successfully installs a microphone in her desk at NATO. Martin manages to connect the East Berlin Headquarters with the office of the top military security analyst at NATO Headquarters. It’s the first time he pulls off such a complex spy maneuver successfully and he quickly becomes a rising star.

East German Secret Service employee, Lenora Rauch, sends her nephew, Martin, to West Germany against his will to become an undercover spy as an aid to a top officer, General Edel. He receives intensive training from field operative Tobias Tischbier, and arrives at the army base under a new identity: Officer Moritz Stamm. His job is to collect intelligence on NATO plans to station American nuclear missiles in West Germany.

Show Summary: DEUTSCHLAND 83 is a gripping coming-of-age story set against the real culture wars and political events of Germany in the 1980s. The drama follows Martin Rauch (Jonas Nay) as the 24 year-old East Germany native is pulled from the world as he knows it and sent to the West as an undercover spy for the Stasi foreign service. Hiding in plain sight in the West German army, he must gather the secrets of NATO military strategy. Everything is new, nothing is quite what it seems and everyone he encounters is harboring secrets, both political and personal.
