On Day Three of of the Televisions Critics Association Winter 2015 Press Tour, Pivot was there to present its new slate of programming and more specifically its new series Fortitude.

Pivot’s first scripted drama, Fortitude, takes place in the small town of Fortitude (in the melting Arctic), which has never been faced with any type of crime, but is shaken after a brutal and shocking murder of one of their residents is committed.

The series stars Stanley Tucci (The Lovely Bones, The Hunger Games), Michael Gambon (Harry Potter, The King’s Speech), Christopher Eccleston (Thor: The Dark World, Lucan), Sofie Gråbøl (The Killing), Richard Dormer (Game of Thrones, Good Vibrations), Jessica Raine (Call The Midwife, The Woman In Black), Luke Treadaway (Clash of the Titans), Nicholas Pinnock (Top Boy), Verónica Echegui (The Cold Light of Day), and Johnny Harris (This is England).

Here are some highlights from the panel:

– While the story is fictional, it is based on a real place and is grounded in science.

– There is a resolution to the murder at the end of season 1 but it’s not the end of the story as they are now preparing season 2.

– The glacier hotel talked about in the show was a late addition to the script.

– They were all staying in a hotel 10 miles away from where they shot the show.

– “They were lovely,” Richard Dormer said of the people living where they shot the series.

– Richard Dormer explained that the costume/gear he was wearing kept him too hot to the point that he had to ask the costume designers to add cold packs under it to cool him down.

Fortitude two-hour premiere debuts on Thursday, January 29th at 10pm.
