Bones Season 10 Review “The 200th in the 10th” – Everything Old is New Again

Bones Season 10 Episode 10 The 200th in the 10th 04

In the Bones 200th episode, called “The 200th in the 10th,” the entire show gets a new look as the characters are tossed back in time in a fictional movie.

I knew I was going to love this episode after the first two minutes. When I saw the photos and preview, I wasn’t sure how they were going to set up putting the characters into a completely different world. Maybe someone would bump their head and dream it up or maybe it would just end up being someone’s idea to turn their lives into a story for their new novel.

The reality was better than anything I could have imagined. The premise, as it turned out, was incredibly simple: Make David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel, turn them into movie stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood and put them in a film called Bones.

Seeing each of these characters we’ve known for 10 seasons reimagined as someone new was fantastic. All of them were written in such a way that they carried many of their original characteristics, but were also fresh and new. Every time someone new came on screen, I was excited to see how they would be interpreted into this new world and I loved every second of it. In fact, I don’t think I could possibly name which one was my favorite because they were all done so well. Each actor brought elements from their characters that made them feel familiar and yet added new depth to them.

I can’t imagine how much fun it must have been for the cast and crew to work on this episode. I know that as I was watching it I felt like I was seeing an entirely new series, or even a movie. When the opening credits came up, I wanted to get out a box of popcorn because I truly felt like I was sitting in a theater watching an old film. I’ve seen TV shows do some unique things for their big episode milestones, but this might have been the best one I have ever seen.

My favorite bits:

The opening titles being just like an old movie. The music, the old-fashioned screen behind the actors, all of it was amazing.

Seeing that the show didn’t hesitate to show us a disgusting body, even in this new world.

Brennan: “Flattery won’t work.”
Angela: “It’ll work on me, doll.”

Every single one of the costumes for the characters. They were perfect.

Brennan repeatedly asking Booth to stop calling her “darling.”

Hodgins’ hair. It was even more spectacular than the fro he had in the early seasons.

Brennan: “Don’t you have faith in science?” Booth: “Of course I do, darling. Without science we wouldn’t have television.”

Booth bringing Brennan to meet his friend Sarge.

Brennan: “Booth, what did he do for you?”
Booth: “More than I can say.”

Booth’s giggle when Brennan suggested he go into her bedroom.

Angela knowing immediately that Booth was at Brennan’s house. I love that those two were just as good friends in this world as they were in the regular one.

Angela: “Booth is a dreamboat I’d like to take a sail on.”

Angela warning Booth to take good care of Brennan or she’d kill him. Ha! That’s definitely our Angela.

Booth dancing with every woman on the dance floor to keep away from the cops.

Booth: “I have to go before I’ve had my coffee.”
Brennan: “Then knock it back because we’ve got to scram.”

Pelant showing up as the waiter in the club. That was awesome.

Finding out that Cam was more than just the maid. I loved that she turned out to be the killer.

Booth: “You’re brilliant!”
Brennan: “Of course I am. Why is everyone so surprised by that?”

Booth and Brennan almost getting their kiss in the closet.

Seeing the sparks fly between Angela and Hodgins. Aw.

Booth running down and catching the place as it was taking off. Wow.

Booth: “See? This is why I like to drive.”

Brennan in her uniform.

Booth and Brennan finally getting to kiss.
