‘Castle’ (Season 7): I Now Pronounce You

NATHAN FILLION, STANA KATIC

Fans of the ABC series Castle have been waiting for this moment for a long time. That moment, of course, is the wedding of mystery novelist Richard Castle (series lead Nathan Fillion) and Detective Kate Beckett (series lead Stana Katic) for quite some time. Last season fans believed they were going to finally see the big grand wedding at Castle’s Hampton home only to be blindsided – much the way Rick was – by his being kidnapped and going missing for two months.

Given all that the couple has gone through at this point, their wedding being delayed and now that Rick has had this crazy ass dream/visit to an alternate universe/psychotic break (just kidding!?!) thanks to that Inca artifact, waking up in a world where he never met Kate or Javi or Ryan, a world where he is a washed-up writer, Alexis has dark hair and lives in California with her mother (what?!?) and Martha is not only a successful actress but also the breadwinner in the family – well, that would turn anyone’s head around, right?

Fans may have been gritting their teeth through last night’s episode just waiting for what had been promised – the wedding! – at least this time they weren’t disappointed. The wedding took place at Rick’s Hampton house with Alexis, Martha and Papa Beckett on hand. Rings and vows were exchanged before a man of the cloth and Rick and Kate were pronounced man and wife.

Thanks to the folks at TV Line and TV Guide, here are their vows for posterity sake:

Kate: “The moment that I met you, my life became extraordinary. You taught me to be my best self, to look forward to tomorrow’s adventure. When I was vulnerable, you were strong. I love you, Richard Castle, and I want to live my life in the warmth of your smile and the strength of your embrace. I promise you I will love you. I will be your friend and your partner in crime and in life. Always.”

Rick: “The moment we met, my life became extraordinary. You taught me more about myself than I knew there was to learn. You are the joy in my heart. You’re the last person I want to see when I close my eyes. I love you, Katherine Beckett, and the mystery of you is the one I want to spend the rest of my life exploring. I promises to love you and be your friend and your partner in crime and life till death do us part — and for the time of our lives.”

‘Castle’ will be back with the next new episode from its 7th season on Monday, November 17 at 10/9c on ABC and it will focus on Caskett’s honeymoon.
