POLL: Which Trouble on Haven is the Most Dangerous?

Audrey, Bobby, Henry, Nikki, Hannah, Ben - Haven

We are now 8 episodes into season 5 of Haven. There will be 13 episodes total shown in 2014, with the mid season finale coming in December. The remaining 13 episodes of season 5 will be shown in 2015.

Over the course of the show, we have been introduced to many different Troubles. “The Troubles” is the generic name for the various supernatural afflictions that the residents of Haven suffer from. Typically outbreaks recur in 27 year cycles, and Troubles run in families. Extreme emotional distress will usually trigger a latent Trouble in a person.

While all of the Troubles can and usually do cause harm and sometimes death, I have chosen what I consider to be the five most dangerous Troubles for the purpose of this poll. I also left you the option of choosing your own should you think one of the Troubles I did not mention is a better choice for inclusion. Let’s take a look at the choices.

It’s Alive!

T.J. Smith, Audrey Parker - Haven

In season 2, episode 1, “A Tale of Two Audreys,” T.J. Smith manifested his Trouble, which makes whatever he reads come to life. Now, this may sound harmless if he likes to read funny books, but imagine what could happen if he were reading Game of Thrones, or even Harry Potter?! Yikes! Thankfully Audrey got him to read The Velveteen Rabbit, one of my favorites!

Nikki Coleman - Haven

In season 2, episode 9, “Lockdown,” Nikki Coleman’s Trouble channeled her negative feelings as a fast attacking virus that is directed at the people she touches. Considering all the recent concern over global pandemics, I think this sort of Trouble is very scary as well as current! Nikki would be worse than Typhoid Mary.

Bullies Beware!

Bobby Mueller, Hannah Driscoll - Haven

In season 1, episode 2, “Butterfly,” we found out about Bobby Mueller’s Trouble. In Bobby’s case, his nightmares become reality for the people he feels threatened by. They only manifest while he is sleeping, but isn’t it bad enough that we have to live with our own nightmares? Now we need to worry about someone else’s too? EEK…

Watch Out for Crying Babies!

Aaron and Ben Harker - Haven

In season 4, episode 12, “When the Bough Breaks,” Aaron Harker begins experiencing his family trouble early. This is a real problem because his Trouble is that when he cries people die. Did I mention that Aaron is a baby? Normally his family’s Trouble does not manifest until the child reaches puberty, but William forced Aaron to wield his Trouble early.

As a parent, I can attest to the overwhelming power of a baby crying, but just imagine if those cries turned deadly! I know that sometimes with a newborn in the house they do seem to be deadly. but this takes it to a whole different level! And, a crying baby can be impossible to control.

Messenger Beware!

Henry Barrow - Haven

In season 5, episodes 1 and 2, “See No Evil” and “Speak No Evil,” the Barrow Family wreaks havoc on Haven with their Trouble. Whenever someone delivers or tries to deliver bad news to one of their family members, the messenger has their eyes, mouth or ears sewn shut.

Oops, Wrong Trubel!

Grimm Season 4 Episode 2 Octopus Head (10)

Did I leave out a Trouble that you feel is more dangerous than the five I have listed? If so, then please vote for this category and then tell me about it in the comments section below. I love to hear your ideas!

So, time to vote! My choice for most dangerous Trouble has to go to T.J. Smith’s Trouble of bringing what he reads alive. I read a lot of science fiction, and if some of those stories were to come alive – well, first it would be awesome, until I was eaten by some monster…
