The Amazing Race Season 25 Review “I Feel Like I Just Kissed a Goat”

Happy Halloween, everyone! I just finished handing out candy to 145 trick-or-treaters, but there’s no rest for the wicked! The Amazing Race still aired an episode on Halloween with “I Feel Like I Just Kissed a Goat,” so I’m here to review it!

This episode was the first one of the season to stay within the same country for the whole episode, so we had no rushing to the airport and jockeying for the best flight. On one hand it’s nice to skip all of that stuff and just focus entirely on straight up racing, but on the other hand it’s a bit of a bummer to stay in the same country the whole episode.

I’m sure that Morocco is a beautiful and colorful country, but this episode really didn’t do it justice. The first 20 minutes just had the contestants running around the backstreets and alleys of buildings that all looked the same. They looked so similar that Amy and Maya grabbed hay bales from some random building and took them next door! One of my favorite things on this race is when people do the completely wrong thing and just mess up some stranger’s day. It cracks me up and I don’t know why. Did some Moroccan guy come back to his house and say “Uh…what happened to my hay bales?!”

The Detour was the standard fare where you had to pick between a hard work task (goat milking) and a detail oriented task (tent building). It’s clear that the challenge the producers wanted everybody to pick was the goat milking, since seeing people chase around a big uddered goat is never not entertaining. I was actually surprised how easily most teams were able to milk the goat.

Kym and Alli were able to easily milk the goat, but then made a huge mistake by switching Detours once they got to the easy part of the challenge. All you had to do was shake a bag for a little while! It might have taken a little while, but it wasn’t something you could fail. This switch definitely cost them second place, and it might have cost them first place! They’ve come in first twice due to making some good decisions, and I do think they’re one of the stronger teams left.

The tight rope walking and zip-lining Road Block was a lot of fun, but it felt a bit weird to shove a little puzzle in the middle of it. The inherent fear of completing the task should have been challenge enough, so shoving in a tiny little wooden puzzle didn’t make sense. It looked like something that belonged in Survivor, not The Amazing Race.

While the challenges themselves were pretty fun, the entire episode had very little suspense to it since Shelley and Nici were in the rear view mirror for the final 30 minutes of the episode. I’m glad that they’re out, as they really haven’t had any shot at making it far in this game.

We’re in the second half of the season now! How do we feel about it so far? Sound off in the comments section below!

Random Thoughts:

– Brooke randomly bodyslamming the bag of hay was one of the most random, yet most delightful, things I’ve seen on this show in a while. I love it when the teams have fun with their challenges!

– Tim and Te Jay’s sexy grunts and dirty talk was one of the dirtiest things that we’ve heard on this show. “Oh yeah, stick it in there!” This is a family show, Amazing Race!

– Who else thinks that the final quiz of the season will be “What type of animal was at the pit stop?” I think every welcomer at the mat has had an animal companion with them.
