Jane The Virgin Episode 3 Review “Chapter Three” – The Best Laid Plans

jane the virgin 103 chapter three 05

In this episode of Jane the Virgin, called “Chapter Three,” Jane tries with all her might to lose her flower, but things don’t go exactly as planned.

It seems the harder Jane tries to tell herself that her feelings for Rafael mean nothing and Michael is the man for her, a bigger force is telling her the exact opposite. I thought for sure we’d see Jane and Michael do the deed in this episode, but it didn’t happen.

First, there were a few little hiccups in Jane’s road to de-flowering. Running into your fiancé and the wife of the man whose sperm you were accidentally inseminated with can put quite the damper on your romantic mood. While Petra and Michael did their best to cover up the real reason they were meeting, I don’t know how convinced Jane was. The funny thing is that, while they were lying, they weren’t lying about what she thought they were lying about – just another fun twist in this show full of twists. But the lie still may have done enough damage, such as planting the seed with Jane that not all was well with her relationship.

As if that wasn’t enough, while Jane was actually on her way for her romantic rendezvous with her soon-to-be (hopefully) husband, she had a little pit stop to dance with Rafael. I said in my last review that I wanted Jane and Michael to stay together, but even I felt the sparks during that dance so my opinion is wavering a little.

Add to that the fact that Jane had her own private musical in church about staying pure, complete with a singing Virgin Mary, and we all knew what was likely to happen. Though it’s interesting to note that Jane wasn’t actually the one to put a stop to their attempted love-making, but a fire alarm.

That forced Jane to take a look at what she was doing and just move up her wedding. I have to wonder if that will resolve the issue. I’m starting to think we’re going to see something keep Jane and Michael apart throughout this first season. Will that send her into Rafael’s arms? I don’t know, but I can’t wait to find out.

My favorite bits:

Jane’s grandmother calling little lies “big balls of evil. ”

Rogelio actually suggesting that they tell Jane he was her father, while he was busy banging her mother. Bad idea, my friend.

Michael’s reaction to Jane telling him she wanted to have sex.

Wanting to clap when Jane said there was no way she was having sex for the first time in the back of Michael’s car. Good for her.

The pictures of Michael as a cop/dad. Ha!

Michael accusing Jane of being hormonal?? Does the man have a death wish?

Rogelio checking into the same hotel Jane works. Uh oh.

Rogelio assuming the hotel clerk wanted his autograph. I am loving this guy more and more.

Rogelio and Jane taking a selfie. Too freaking cute.

Jane’s reaction to seeing Petra in the mirror. I would’ve screamed, too.

Jane crying when she saw the baby’s room. I was kind of with her on that one, too.

Rogelio coaching Jane’s grandmother to breathe. Methinks he’s had to do that a lot.

“Anyone heroic on screen must have a hero inside of them.”

The choir, and her grandmother, and the Virgin Mary all singing to Jane. That is all.

Rafael and Jane dancing as she’s on her way up to have sex with Michael? Uh oh.

Rafael’s face showing up on the TV screen at the worst possible time.

Jane’s grandmother’s face when Jane said she didn’t have sex.
