‘Pretty Little Liars’ (Season 5): We Love You To DeAth

PLL Xmas 2014 NEW

While the ABC Family drama Pretty Little Liars is on its mid-season break of its current fifth season, October is when the series typically airs its Halloween episode, something the show has been doing since its second season on the air. However this year there was a change with a fan-appreciation special entitled “We Love You To DeAth” airing in place of a Halloween-themed episode.

The special featured all of the liars – Troian Bellisario, Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell and Sasha Pieterse – answering fan questions as well as interviews with most of the cast members, including those who are among the “dearly departed”; but more on them shortly.

One of the most important reveals during the special came from I. Marlene King, the series creator of ‘Pretty Little Liars’ when she shared, “We’ll know who ‘A’ is before season 7 starts”.

SAY WHAT?!

It’s about time, right?!

Okay fans. Let’s all freak out for a few minutes and then take a look at some of the highlights of the special:

• Without social media and the reaction of the fans during the first season, Troian shared that the show would not have made it to a second season;

• Known as the “PLL Army” the fans of the series are a force to be reckoned with and the cast talked about how impressed they are with all of the fan-made videos they have created in honor of the show;

• While not on the same level as Tatiana Maslany in ‘Orphan Black’ (NOTE: this is my comparison not any reference made in the special), actress Janel Parrish shared that her now deceased character Mona has had seven different phases: Nerdy Mona, Popular Mona, Hacker Mona, Nice Mona 2.0, Crazy Mona, Badass Mona and R.I.P. Mona;

• A much-deserved nod was given to the show’s prop master, Chris Vail, who talked about the various dolls used throughout the seasons, including the bobbleheads. He shared that the Hanna bobblehead took forever to light on fire and the disturbing life-like fake arm used in Mrs. DeLaurentis’ grave;

• While the girls love the costumes they have worn over the years – especially the Halloween costumes, but they did share that many of them were very uncomfortable. In fact, Troian joked that she has begged the costume designer if she could burn the outfits, but that idea was nixed quickly;

• When the main cast were asked about the creepiest guest stars who have been featured on the show, the answers were the little kids – especially the teen girls who were involved in the short-lived spin-off Ravenswood – and the innkeeper; and,

• Troian and Ashley revealed they have both been clued in to who ‘A’ actually is much to the chagrin of the girls.

Fans also learned, if they didn’t know it already, the show will (most likely) be starting a new tradition this season with its first Christmas episode set to air on Tuesday, December 9. Here is a teaser for that holiday episode:
