The Spoils Before Dying

IFC has picked up a new six part miniseries entitled The Spoils Before Dying, a follow up to ‘The Spoils of Babylon’ from Funny or Die, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The series will be executive produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Matt Piedmont, Andrew Steele and Nate Young. Both Steele and Piedmont will pen the script that is set to follow Babylon author Jonrosh, Ferrell’s character, a jazz musician turned sleuth in the 1950s.

“Hang on to your hats America! This one’s going to be totally bonkers!” quipped Ferrell in a statement Monday, with producing partner McKay adding: “The first Spoils miniseries beat the NFL and Big Bang Theory in ratings (adults: ages 74-92) and changed the way Americans talk, think and prepare meat. We anticipate this new series from Jonrosh with Steele and Piedmont becoming the most watched television event in the history of Earth.”

The original ‘Spoils’ miniseries featured an all-star cast line-up that included Jessica Alba, Val Kilmer, Tobey Maguire, Haley Joel Osment, Tim Robbins, Michael Sheen and Kristen Wiig, and more. Casting on the ‘The Spoils Before Dying’ is slated to kick off soon with the mini-series scheduled to premiere sometime in 2015.
