Frozen is Coming to ‘Once Upon a Time’

Foster and Lail

As viewers of the ABC fairy tale drama Once Upon a Time know from the show’s third season finale, that aired this past May, Elsa, Queen of Arendelle – from the animated box office hit ‘Frozen’ made an appearance in the final moments of that last episode, bringing about much speculation as to who would be playing that role as well as which other characters from that fairy tale story would be showing up in Storybrooke.

Well, the casting gods have spoken and the folks over at TV Line have reported that newcomer Elizabeth Lail and actor Scott Michael Foster, best known for his role of Cappie on ‘Greek’, and have landed the plum roles Anna, Elsa’s younger sister and Anna’s boyfriend Kristoff.

The ‘Once Upon a Time’ version of Anna is being described as “a fun-loving, fearless optimist who often gets herself into situations where she is in over her head, yet is able to triumph due to her resourcefulness and can-do spirit”. On the other hand, Kristoff will be a “hearty, salt-of-the-earth ice cutter whose sometimes-gruff demeanor can hidehis deep love for Anna and her sister Elsa.

The key role of Elsa has yet to be cast, though.

TV viewers will know Foster from his current role on the ABC Family drama ‘Chasing Life’ as well as his roles on ‘The River’, ‘Zero Hour’ and ‘Halt and Catch Fire’. Lail has appeared in a couple of short films, but this role will stand as her big TV break.

‘Once Upon a Time’ will return for its fourth season on ABC this fall.
