‘Community’ Season 6 Announced by Yahoo

Well, Community fans, you’ve got your six seasons.

Yahoo has swooped in like The Cape to rescue Community from cancellation. NBC axed the cult favorite back in May, but series’ producers and creator Dan Harmon have found the series a new home on the internet. Community will return for a 13-episode sixth season this fall on Yahoo Screen. As of right now, it appears all of the principle cast– Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Ken Yeong and Jim Rish –are in place to return.

“Yahoo is all about connecting the best creators to the audiences who love their work. ‘Community’ has an incredibly passionate and loyal fan base who have fought hard to keep this amazing show alive. We couldn’t be more excited to work with Dan, Joel, and the entire cast, as well as Sony, to deliver a great season six,” said Kathy Savitt, CMO of Yahoo, in a statement.

McHale added, “‘The reports of our cancellation have been greatly exaggerated.’ —Mark Twain (The other version of this quote has been wrong for years). #SixSeasonsAndaMovie is real. Thank you Sony. Thank you Yahoo. Thank you Dan Harmon. And thank you to the greatest f%$#ing fans in the history of the human race. It’s the internet. We can swear now.”

This is quite the coup for Yahoo, as well as Community. Yahoo’s platform is not as well known as Hulu, Netflix or Crackle, but with the fan favorite Community on its side, the streaming site is sure to attract a new fan base.

Now, how about that movie, Mr. Harmon?
