Chasing Life Season 1 Review “Help Wanted”

Chasing Life episode 2 Help Wanted (4)

Chasing Life entered into its second episode of the freshman season last night on ABC Family. In the pilot episode April couldn’t seem to find a way to tell her family or her friends that she has cancer until tonight.

April finally breaks down and tells Beth. What a scene! Instead of Beth consoling her sick friend, April had to do the comforting. Over the course of the episode however, Beth finally pulls it together, does some much needed research and attempts to help her friend out who is truly stuck in the denial phase. It was also great to see her snap at the waiter about her friend with cancer. It was like an extra scene cut out of comedy flick 50/50 with Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon Levitt.

Do you want to shake April too? One minute she’s ready to fight cancer and the next she’s strangely worried about what she’s going to wear to Dominic’s house for dinner or her promotion at the paper. Hopefully these two end quickly. Especially after seeing Scott Michel Foster make his introduction as a bad boy named Leo who’s reckless and angry due to his shady politician father.

It’s also frustrating to see her ask if she can put off surgery. Yes, she’s 24, but she’s supposed to be a mature 24 who held her family together while they tried to cope with the death of her father.

We were also treated to more of the mysterious saga involving April’s father after she finally figures out who her sister may be thanks to her cube buddy. With all of the drama going on you would think the storyline doesn’t need anymore, but the writers slide this conflict into the mix nicely.

At the end of the day there may be some holes in the story with some unrealistic moments, but ‘Chasing Life’ is still entraining and comical. What did you think of this latest episode? Am I am being too hard? Expecting too much? Drop your comments below.
