TV Buzz: ‘Crossbones’ Sets Sail, ‘The Simpsons’ Go Lego and More

From the fun-filled adventures of The Musketeers to the unnerving trailer for Lifetime’s Petals on the Wind, we have a little something for everyone this Thursday. My favorite of the lot is a faux propaganda message for season two of In the Flesh, but there is no denying summer programming is ramping up when you look at this crop of trailers and photos. Check them all out below!

‘Crossbones’ Sets sail with New Trailer and Photos

It seems like an age has passed since NBC announced Crossbones starring John Malkovich as Blackbeard– so long that Starz has had enough time to renew their pirate drama Black Sails for a second season –but the trailer and cast photos have finally arrived. Does it look thrilling? Yes. However, it also looks eerily familiar. NBC may have missed the boat premiere day wise. However, they do have Malkovich in their corner and he is one intimidating guy to have on your team as Blackbeard. After you watch him in action, check out the cast photos in the gallery below.

Crossbones premieres Friday, May 30th on NBC.

‘The Simpsons’ Get Lego-ified

Homer is going to his very own Lego Land in the 550th episode of The Simpsons. Fox has released a first look at Marge in full Lego mode while a confused Homer looks on. Are you excited to see The Simpsons get their Lego on?

“Brick Like Me” airs Sunday, May 4th at 8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT on FOX.

‘The Musketeers’ Extended Trailer Featuring Doctor Who’s Peter Capaldi

Peter Capaldi is front and center in the extended The Musketeers trailer. The exhilarating, action-packed trailer looks like a modern adventure in old garb– but it is a look it pulls off beautifully. Are you ready to join in The Musketeers‘ fun this summer?

The Musketeers premieres Sunday, June 22nd at 9/8c on BBC America.

‘In the Flesh’ Gets Animated Propaganda Trailer

Victus, the pro-living party wants to make sure you stay vigilant against the second rising of the undead. Even if it means releasing a blatant (but awesomely animated) propaganda commercial. Yes, In the Flesh is getting creative ahead of season two and if this doesn’t have you jonesing for the new season, nothing will.

In the Flesh season two premieres Saturday, May 10th at 10/9c on BBC America.

‘Penny Dreadful’ Trailer: Just Like You

Is there a monster lurking inside all of us? There are definitely monsters aplenty in Penny Dreadful as illustrated by the moody new trailer that gives a view through the eyes of Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and all of the other creepy characters populating the dark, Gothic world of the series.

Penny Dreadful premieres Sunday, May 11th at 10PM ET/PT on Showtime.

BBC America’s ‘Almost Royal’ Gang Learn about Baseball

The nearly royals touring America in BBC America’s first original comedy Almost Royal learn about the great American pastime of Baseball in the latest teaser. George is confused by the spitting (“Is that allowed?”), while Poppy quite sensibly wonders why they don’t wear gloves on both hands.

The faux documentary is set to premiere Saturday June 21st at 10pm/9c on BBC America.

Syfy Unveils ‘Dominion’ Launch Trailer

Syfy continues to aim for darker programming with the Dominion, the upcoming series about a war between angels and human. As for the angels, they are not exactly cherubs. Instead, they appear to have leathery skin and wings that can defend against a hailstorm of bullets. Weird factor? Pretty high, but the show also has a post-apocalyptic Las Vegas to distract us from their strange angel designs.

Dominion premieres Thursday, June 19th at 9/8c on Syfy.

Petals on the Wind

Lifetime is continuing the Flowers in the Attic saga in Petals on the Wind. The first trailer is a mix of revenge drama, incest and gorgeous dance scenes courtesy of Bunheads‘ Bailey Buntain. It’s not surprising Lifetime is continuing the franchise after the monster ratings of the first outing, but are you ready to return to the house of horrors?

Petals on the Wind premieres May 26th on Lifetime.

That concludes this Thursday’s TV Buzz. Note our next edition will come out Monday, rather than Tuesday next week, so keep your eyes peeled for more trailers, photos and previews for your favorite new and returning shows. Until then hit those comments and let us know which trailer are you buzzing over the most?
