‘Castle’ Season 6: Getting to Know Kevin and Jenny Better

Castle Season 5 Episode 18 The Wild Rover (8)

Detective Kevin Ryan (series regular Seamus Dever) has been a part of the team at the 12th Precinct on the long-running ABC series Castle since the premiere episode “Flowers for Your Grave”. And while we’ve gotten to see Kevin in action alongside his partner Detective Javier Esposito (series regular Jon Huertas) countless times in the past, we have yet to really get a good look at his home life with wife Jenny Duffy-O’Malley Ryan (Juliana Dever, the real life wife of Seamus).

After all, we’ve seen plenty of home life for mystery author Richard Castle (series lead Nathan Fillion) and Detective Kate Beckett (series lead Stana Katic) as well as Richard’s daughter Alexis (series regular Molly Quinn) and his mother Martha Rodgers (series regular Susan Sullivan); and we’ve seen a little glimpse into the romantic life of once-upon-a-time couple Dr. Lanie Parish (series regular Tamala Jones) and Detective Esposito; but we have yet to really see much of Kevin and Jenny.

Sure, we got to see Kevin propose to Jenny back in the 2011 episode entitled “Nikki Heat”, got to see glimpses of their wedding in the 20142episode entitled “Till Death Do Us Part”, observe Jenny’s jealousy when an old love shows up causing Ryan to return to an undercover persona in the episode entitled “The Wild Rover” and be there for the birth of their daughter in the tense-filled 2014 episode entitled “Under Fire”; but we’ve seen little else.

Wouldn’t it be interesting to see one episode, after all these seasons, which would allow loyal fans to have the chance to see a day in the life of the Ryans? After all, Jenny has only been featured in six episodes – one for each year the show has been on the air by the way – and there has only really been one episode focused on their daughter. Perhaps the writers could come up with a slapstick episode of the Ryans having a non-crime fighting weekend but at every turn they keep getting drawn into a case for which Javi, Kate and Castle are trying to solve.

What would you like to see to happen if an episode would be focused on the Ryan family? Please share your ideas below.

‘Castle’ will finally be back with new episodes on ABC starting on Monday, April 21 at 10/9c.
