Lifetime Continues ‘Flowers in the Attic’ Franchise with Sequel ‘Petals on the Wind’

Petals on the Wind

The cable network Lifetime didn’t waste any time kicking off a franchise of telefilms based on the iconic novels by author V.C. Andrews this year. On January 18 the cable network debuted ‘Flowers in the Attic’, which garnered 6.1 million viewers in its world premiere; and now the network will be bringing the second book in the series – Petals on the Wind – to the small screen on May 26.

‘Petals on the Wind’ begins ten years after the ending of the first film where the remaining Dollanganger siblings escaped the attic where their mother Corrine (Heather Graham) and grandmother Olivia (Ellen Burstyn) had kept them locked away for more than two years. The twisted plight of Cathy (now played by Rose McIver from ‘Once Upon a Time’), Christopher (now played by Wyatt Nash from ‘Pretty Little Liars’) and Carrie (now played by Bailey Buntain from ‘Bunheads’) is examined as they attempt to put their sordid past behind them. But they soon discover certain secrets can’t be left behind. When Cathy finds herself in an abusive relationship with a fellow dancer, Julian (Will Kemp from ‘90210’), Christopher and Cathy are forced to face the forbidden feelings they developed for one another while coming of age during captivity. But when tragedy strikes the Dollangangers once again, Cathy returns to Foxworth Hall to confront her grandmother and seek revenge on her mother with a plan to seduce her husband Bart (Dylan Bruce from ‘Orphan Black’). When Christopher runs to Cathy’s side, the two are determined to start over again – together.

Lifetime is currently in development on three additional V.C. Andrews books, including ‘If There Be Thorns’ and ‘Seeds of Yesterday’, both from the Dollanganger series and the stand-alone novel ‘My Sweet Audrina’.

‘Petals on the Wind’ will air on Lifetime on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26 at 9/8c.
