‘Nurse Jackie’ Season 7 Announced by Showtime

Nurse Jackie has yet to enter into its sixth season and already the dark comedy has been given the green light for a seventh season. Showtime has ordered another round of the series with lead actress Edie Falco (Sopranos) as the troubled but ingenious ER nurse, Jackie Peyton. David Nevins, the President of Showtime Networks Inc., made the official announcement.

The pick-up comes after ‘Nurse Jackie’s successful fifth season run. The series averaged 3.13 million viewers each week. The viewership across digital platforms also rose 14.4 percent. Season 6 of the series is slated to debut on April 13 at 9 p.m. and will follow Jackie as she battles her demons of addiction once again. Adam Ferrara will return as Nurse Jackie’s love interest with Dominic Fumusa back in the role of her ex-husband. Ruby Jerins will reprise her role as Falco’s daughter with guest star Julie White back as Nurse Jackie’s sponsor.

Season 6 will also include the cast ensemble of Merritt Wever, Paul Schulze, Anna Deavere Smith, Stephen Wallem, Betty Gilpin, Mackenzie Aladjem and Peter Facinelli with guest stars Morris Chestnut, Laura Benanti and Michael Esper. ‘Nurse Jackie’ comes from executive producers Tom Straw, Richie Jackson, Liz Flahive and Caryn Mandabach.
