Amazon Announces ‘Alpha House’ Season 2; Picks Up 6 New Series

Amazon is continuing their push into creating original content with orders for six new series from high profile creators like Chris Carter (The X-Files), Jill Soloway (Six Feet Under), Roman Coppola (Moonrise Kingdom) and more. Additionally, Amazon has also renewed their hit series Alpha House, starring John Goodman, Mark Consuelos, Clark Johnson and Matt Malloy as four Republican senators and housemates for a second season.

“We are delighted that Alpha House is a winner among Prime members,” said Roy Price, Director of Amazon Studios in a statement. “More than 6,000 customers gave the show a perfect five-star rating and have posted glowing, witty and compelling reviews asking for a second season. We’re excited to begin production and keep the story about these senators alive.”

Meanwhile, Amazon is adding The After, Bosch, Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street, Mozart in the Jungle, Transparent and Wishenpoof! to its Amazon Prime streaming lineup. The After is a apocalyptic mystery from Carter, while Bosch stars Titus Welliver (Lost) and is a crime drama based on Michael Connelly’s best-selling book series. On the comedy side of things there is Mozart in the Jungle, a look at the risque side of classical music from Coppola, and Transparent starring Jeffrey Tambor, a comedy about a family dealing with changes.

Finally, the internet giant is also expanding its children lineup with Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street and Wishenpoof!, both of which will join the previously picked up Creative Galaxy, Tumble Leaf and Annedroids.
