NBC Renews ‘Chicago Fire,’ ‘Grimm,’ ‘Chicago P.D.’ and ‘Parks and Recreation’ for 2014-2015 Season

Grimm Season 3 Episode 15 Once We Were Gods (7)

NBC announced renewals for Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Grimm yesterday, Wednesday, March 19th. The network also officially confirmed Parks and Recreation will return for a seventh season. These renewals come in addition to the previously announced season two pick up of The Blacklist, season seven of The Voice and season 14 of Celebrity Apprentice.

The vote of confidence in newer shows Chicago P.D. and The Blacklist, both freshman series, is indicative of the ratings spike NBC has seen in viewership among the 18-49 demo this season. Meanwhile, Grimm, going into its fourth season, continues to anchor NBC’s successful genre-themed Friday lineup, and Parks and Recreation still garners critical acclaim. As an extra bonus, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. can work together as a franchise that can utilize crossovers with ease. A crossover is coming up on April 29th, where events on Chicago Fire will continue April 30th on Chicago P.D., allowing NBC to build the audiences for both series.
