Hallmark Channel Greenlights ‘The Good Witch’ to Series

The Good Witch

Since the made-for-TV movie The Good Witch debuted on the Hallmark Channel in 2008, the franchise has become one of the most popular telefilms in the network’s history, garnering six films in total all starring ‘JAG’ and ‘Army Wives’ alum Catherine Bell.

Now, according to a report at Deadline, the network has given the greenlight for a 10-episode original scripted series based on the film franchise.

The series, which is expected to air sometime in early 2015, will star Bell as “raven-haired enchantress Cassie Nightingale,” but it has yet to be announced if other cast members such as Chris Potter, Matthew Knight and Hannah Endicott-Douglas will return as Cassie’s husband and step-children respectively.

Michelle Vicary, the Executive Vice President at Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel, had this to share about the franchise, “From the moment the first film in The Good Witch series premiered, we knew audiences would fall in love with Catherine Bell and this character and want to see more of her. Catherine has been one of the most sought after talents in our industry, and now she has a weekly home on Hallmark Channel”.

In the meantime, fans of the popular franchise can expect the seventh film – ‘The Good Witch’s Wonder’ – to air on the Hallmark Channel on October 25 and the series itself, again, to debut sometime in early 2015.
