NBC Announces 13-Episode ‘Heroes’ Revival ‘Heroes Reborn’ [+Video]

No, this is not an early April Fool’s joke, NBC is reviving Heroes for a 13-episode limited special entitled Heroes Reborn in 2015. Original creator Tim Kring will be back at the helm, but it is unclear if any of the original cast including the busy Zachary Quinto, Hayden Panettiere (currently on ABC’s Nashville) or Milo Ventimiglia will be involved in the project. For now, NBC is keeping mum on all major details. Check out a brief teaser below.

“The enormous impact ‘Heroes’ had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening,” said NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke in a statement. “Shows with that kind of resonance don’t come around often and we thought it was time for another installment. We’re thrilled that visionary creator Tim Kring was as excited about jumping back into this show as we were and we look forward to all the new textures and layers Tim plans to add to his original concept. Until we get closer to air in 2015, the show will be appropriately shrouded in secrecy, but we won’t rule out the possibility of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in.”

Heroes ran for four seasons and suffered from declining fan and critical reception after its first, however it continues to have a loyal fanbase and has had an incredibly lucrative afterlife thanks to DVD sales. Are you excited Heroes is returning or were you fine with the titular heroes hanging up their capes?
