On TV Tonight, Sunday, 2/23/14: Downton Abbey, Growing Up Fisher and More

TV Equals Midseason 2014 Sunday

Our Picks

Downton Abbey – 9pm PBS
We must leave the Abbey for another year. I’m not ready to go yet either, but we are getting a staff day at the beach and a visit from Paul Giamatti. I know it’s not nearly enough to keep us occupied until season five, but like the Dowager Countess, we must soldier on.

Shameless – 9pm Showtime
I for one, am looking forward to seeing Lip step into the role of Gallagher guardian while Fiona is under house arrest. As hard as it is to see Fiona stuck in such a bad place in her life, I’ve always wondered what would happen if Lip and Fiona swapped roles.

Growing Up Fisher – 10:36pm NBC
Jenna Elfman, through no fault of her own, is becoming something of a show killer…or at least every show she has been in since Dharma & Greg has met an untimely death. Maybe, Growing Up Fisher can break the curse. The comedy looks reasonably funny and it has J.K. Simmons in it as well, so let’s check out the special post-Olympics preview tonight. Do it for Elfman; she deserves a win.
