On TV Tonight, Monday, 02/17/14: Star-Crossed, Castle and More

TV Equals Midseason 2014 Monday

Our Picks

Star-Crossed – 8pm The CW
I am not expecting much from Star-Crossed; it looks like an incredibly hokey YA romance novel, but I’m approaching it this way: if we watch it and it sucks, we can point and laugh or if we watch it and it’s surprisingly good we can be ashamed of ourselves for pre-judging the romance between a teen girl and a teen alien who crash landed in her backyard. Either way we win.

Being Human – 9pm Syfy
I am traditionally a Being Human purist (as in, it’s the UK version or nothing), but this season in particular, the US version has been delving into stories I always hoped the UK version would explore, but never did, namely Sally’s (Annie, in my world) powers. She is actually time-traveling tonight! Bravo to Syfy for taking the original concept and pushing a little farther.

Castle – 10pm ABC
Castle has been gone for a few weeks, and I’m afraid it may have suffered a concussion. It thinks it is The X-Files now. Let’s humor it for the time being for Nathan Fillion’s sake, but if next week involves the Cigarette Smoking Man, an intervention will have to be staged.
