‘Sean Saves the World’ Cancelled by NBC

Sean Saves the World Episode 11 Trapped in the Closet (Part 2) (5)

The NBC network has put a halt to the production of the freshman series Sean Saves the World. According to TV Line, the network has hit pause on the Sean Hayes comedy vehicle due to lackluster ratings. Initially NBC ordered 18 episodes of the show, but has currently decided against airing the final four episodes of the series the network hoped would bolster its Thursday night ratings.

Upon hearing the news of the cancellation, Hayes maintained his humor in a tweet to fans. “Thanks to @SeanSavesWorld actors & crew & @NBC for a wonderful opportunity. Looking forward to Obama’s minimum wage increase to $10/hr.”

The series claimed 4.4 million viewers in its debut before ratings fell to an average of 2.58 million viewers as of last week. ‘Sean Saves the World’ followed Hayes as a divorced gay father whose teenage daughter unexpectedly moves in with him full time, turning his world upside down, all while dealing with his temperamental new boss at work. The series also featured the cast of Megan Hilty (Smash) as Liz, Echo Kellum (Comedy Bang! Bang!) in the role of Hunter, Samantha Isler (Homerun) as Ellie, Thomas Lennon (Archer) as Max and Linda Lavin (The O.C.) as Lorna.
