Hart of Dixie Season 3 Review “Star of the Show”

Star of the Show

If you were to take everything I hate about Hart of Dixie and put it into one episode, you would get ‘Star of the Show’. Don’t get me wrong, I love the show 99% of the time, but there are certain elements that just get one my nerves. While this week gave us lots of good things like Lemon’s Skype chats, George and Tansy almost reuniting and Vivian not actually being a terrible character, we also had Lavon being ridiculous, Zoe dumbing herself down with the cabaret about cells and the continuation of the town merger that nobody really cares about.

While I applaud the show for attempting to give us an ongoing narrative that isn’t about whether a certain couple will live happily ever after, I wonder why they couldn’t think of something a little more compelling than this. Add to that a period of the show where none of our favourite couples are together (unless you ship Zoe/Joel or Linley/George), and each and every week is getting that little bit more frustrating. Thank god for the presence of Lemon Breeland, drumming some sense into everyone, that’s all I say.

After spending some quality time together in this episode, it seems only a matter of time before George and Tansy rekindle things. She’s right – Linley has crazy eyes – and I wonder how having her heart broken will play out for the trio. Then there’s Wade and Vivian which is turning out, much like Zoe and Joel’s relationship, to not be nearly as horrible as it should be. While most viewers are still hard-core Zade shippers at heart, I have to say I wouldn’t be averse to seeing how both of these pit-stop romances play out over a bit of time. Wade needs to grow up and Zoe needs to let go of New York for good, and I guess this is how it happens.

What did you think of the episode? How will Linley react to what she saw between George and Tansy? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
