On TV Tonight, Saturday, 1/18/14: Flowers in the Attic [TV Movie], When Calls the Heart and More

TV Equals Schedules Fall 2013 Saturday

Our Picks

Flowers in the Attic – 8pm Lifetime
Flowers in the Attic is one of the most depraved stories ever written. The ’80s film still gives me nightmares, but Lifetime has remade it, which means it could be so, so much worse. So why am I asking you to put yourself through emotional torture? Do it for Kiernan Shipka. Mad Men‘s youngest star is often its brightest, so I imagine she’ll shine even in a horror story, train wreck of a tale about the worst grandmother ever.

When Calls the Heart – 9pm Hallmark
And now for something not emotionally scarring: When Calls the Heart is Hallmark’s commendable attempt to make Dr. Quinn style shows cool again. Personally, I don’t need any convincing. Wholesome is not a dirty word and by the second hour of Flowers in the Attic your brain will need cleansing.

Atlantis – 9pm BBC America
Hey, guess what show hasn’t sucked for the past two weeks in a row? This one! Atlantis, you are worthy of being a pick of the week again. Don’t screw this up for yourself.
