Showtime Announces Spring Premiere Dates for ‘Californication,’ ‘Nurse Jackie’ and More

Showtime is gearing up for an eventful spring. The premium channel has announced the return dates for Californication and Nurse Jackie, as well as the series premiere date of Penny Dreadful and the docu-series Years of Living Dangerously.

Nurse Jackie season six and Californication‘s seventh and final season kick things off on Sunday, April 13th beginning with Nurse Jackie‘s premiere at 9:00PM ET/PT. They will be immediately followed by Years of Living Dangerously at 10PM, a docu-series featuring journalist and celebrities traveling around the globe to explore the effects climate change are having on the Earth. Finally, Showtime’s gothic horror series Penny Dreadful will premiere Sunday, May 11th at 10PM.

Going into its sixth season, Nurse Jackie will find Jackie (Edie Falco) back on the pills. The series stars Merritt Wever, Paul Schulze, Dominic Fumusa, Anna Deavere Smith, Stephen Wallem, Betty Gilpin, Adam Ferrara, Ruby Jerins, Mackenzie Aladjem and Peter Facinelli. Morris Chestnut is the season six special guest star. The final season of Californication features Hank (David Duchovny) joining the writer’s room of his never released film turned television series. The official description for the season reads:

He’s riled frequently by his boss, the show’s old-school executive producer Rick Rath (guest star Michael Imperioli), and his fellow writing team members, including Goldie (guest star Mary Lynn Rajskub) and Alonzo (co-star Alonzo Bodden). But he’s thrown by the reemergence of old friend Julia (guest star Heather Graham), whose arrival causes chaos in Hank’s already hectic life, and with his on-off relationship with Karen (Natasha McElhone). Meanwhile, Charlie (Evan Handler) and Marcy (Pamela Adlon) grapple with the aftermath of their reunion and an enticing offer from her ex-husband, Stu Beggs (guest star Stephen Tobolowsky). Rob Lowe, Brandon T. Jackson, Oliver Cooper and Mercedes Masohn will also guest star.

Years of Living Dangerously includes correspondents Jessica Alba, Mark Bittman, Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, America Ferrera, Harrison Ford, Thomas Friedman, Michael C. Hall, Chris Hayes, Olivia Munn, Dr. M. Sanjayan, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ian Somerhalder and Lesley Stahl. All will tackle different aspects of how climate changes effect us and the environment.

In May, the long-awaited series premiere of Penny Dreadful will bring some of horror literature’s most iconic characters to life. The drama, set in Victorian London, will be populated by the likes of Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and figures from the novel Dracula, all brilliantly re-imagined in a whole new light. The series stars Josh Hartnett (Black Hawk Down), Timothy Dalton (The Living Daylights) and Eva Green (Casino Royale), Reeve Carney (Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark), Rory Kinnear (Skyfall), Billie Piper (Doctor Who), Harry Treadaway (The Lone Ranger) and Danny Sapani (The Bill).
