On TV Tonight, Wednesday, 01/15/14: American Idol, Melissa and Joey and More

TV Equals Schedules Fall 2013 Wednesday

Our Picks

American Idol – 8pm FOX
I no longer consider American Idol relevant anymore, but the one part of the show that is still worth watching is the audition process. The plethora of talent shows on air have created a false sense that everyone is talented. This is not true, and nowhere is it not true more than when you’re watching exceedingly optimistic people try to warble their way through Taylor Swift songs.

Melissa and Joey – 8pm ABC Family
Ah, the dance of will they or want they continues. Melissa and Joey is an old school sitcom right down to its core, which is exactly why I’m obsessed with the titular characters hooking up. It’s Who’s the Boss, the ’90s edition, so I watch in hopes of seeing the squabbling co-inhabitants realize they’re in love. Tonight, Joey is on a mission to profess that love, but that guarantees obstacles and an audience awwing at his sadness when he ultimately fails.

Super Fun Night – 9:30pm ABC
The people have spoken: they love Super Fun Night. Or possibly twelve of us love Super Fun Night and we had a super fun time voting over and over again for the show to win a People’s Choice Award. Tonight, Kendel and Kimmie’s budding friendship starts falling apart. It sounds painful and depressing, but I can’t look away.
