If you’re a fan of the Coen Brothers’ cult movie Fargo, then you’re probably going to be excited to know that the premiere date for the new FX series Fargo, based on the movie, has been announced.

During FX’s presentation at the TCA Winter press tour, the network announced that the anthology series would premiere on April 15th at 10pm. All ten episodes of the first season were written by creator Noah Hawley.

The series is structured as an anthology series similar to FX’s other series American Horror Story and HBO’s True Detective, where each season would be a separate true crime story in the same region. However, unlike American Horror Story, Hawley shared during the panel that he doesn’t anticipate having the same cast in each season.

For those of you excited to watch the show, I should also probably mention that the fan favorite character of Marge Gunderson, played by Frances McDormand, does not exist in the series. The producers explained that they felt they wouldn’t be able to ever do justice to the character if they didn’t have Frances McDormand portray her, so decided not to have her in the series at all.

That said, the teaser shown at the panel looked very promising and I for one am looking forward to seeing what they have in store for use.

The series stars Billy Bob Thorton, Martin Freeman, Colin Hanks and Allison Tolman.

Are you excited to see a new version of Fargo coming to television? Will you be tuning in?
