Amazon and CBS Announce Exclusive Content Deal for New Halle Berry Drama ‘Extant’

As previously reported, Halle Berry is coming to the small screen via CBS in the thriller Extant. Now Extant has found an exclusive online home on Amazon. The online giant and CBS have partnered to make Amazon Prime Instant Video the exclusive premium subscription home for the series. New episodes of Extant will be available to members of the service four days after their broadcast on CBS. A similar deal was struck between CBS and Amazon for last summer’s hit series Under the Dome, which like Extant is produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television.

“Our partnership with Amazon for UNDER THE DOME helped build a creative, financial and marketing model for event television in the summer,” said Scott Koondel, Chief Corporate Licensing Officer, CBS Corporation. “We look forward to using the same model for EXTANT, a series whose creative auspices, on-screen talent and intriguing concept is already generating great excitement.”

Extant follows the return home of a female astronaut (Berry) after spending a year in space. Her experiences lead to a series of events that could change the course of history. The series is set to premiere June 2014 on CBS.
