‘Veronica Mars’ Movie Release Announced

Almost a year to the date of the opening day of the Kickstarter campaign that gave Veronica Mars (BOLD), the critically acclaimed AND fan favorite series that ran for three seasons from 2004 to 2007, new life on the big screen, the much-anticipated film will hit theatre screens. What day is that you ask? March 14, 2014 [get it down in pen on your calendars, marshmellows!]

In a campaign that made international news and broke records all over the place, the $5.7 million raised by fans to bring the small screen series to cineplexs all over the country will FINALLY happen; and the title of the film will be simple: ‘Veronica Mars’

In an exclusive interview with the folks over at Entertainment Weekly (http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/12/04/veronica-mars-movie-release-date/), series creator Rob Thomas had this to share about the big screen version, “Warner Bros. had this date circled for quite some time and hoped it would stay open. Luckily, no other teen detective movie decided to open in the middle of March”.

The film version of ‘Veronica Mars’ will find Veronica (lead actress Kristen Bell) returning to her hometown of Neptune, California after 10 years away to help her former flame (actor Jason Dohring), who has been accused of killing his pop star girlfriend; oh, and to attend her 10-year high school reunion. And, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that the original cast is also back, including Percy Daggs III, Francis Capra, Tina Majorino, Enrico Colantoni and Ryan Hansen as well as other familiar faces from Veronica’s days in high school. Season three addition Chris Lowell will also co-star.

‘Veronica Mars’ will actually receive a wider, nationwide release (this is an upgrade, if you will, from the original distribution plan) from Warner Bros. with the “marketplace deciding how long the film should stay in theatres”, but the number of screens for which the film will appear is still to be determined. But the most important thing is that the film has an opening date.

So, marshmellows, are you excited that ‘Veronica Mars’ will be on the big screen come March 14, 2014? Comment away below, please!
