On TV Tonight, Thursday, 12/5/13: The Sound of Music Live!, Project Runway All Stars and More

TV Equals Schedules Fall 2013 Thursday

Our Picks

The Sound of Music Live! – 8pm NBC
Look, I’m not saying The Sound of Music is my favorite musical, but there’s something special about what NBC is doing here. They’re taking a risk programming a live three-hour performance and allowing America at large to see a theater style performance in their homes. This kind of television experience used to be the norm, but it’s a rarity now, and one we should all take advantage of. Also, it’s a chance to hear Stephen Moyer without the horrific fake southern accent he uses on True Blood. There’s no bad here.

Project Runway – 9pm Lifetime
Reality TV and I normally don’t get along, but Project Runway All Stars is doing something cool tonight. The designers are creating a dress for Marge to wear on a date night with Homer in an upcoming episode of The Simpsons. Marge has been wearing the same dress for 25 years now, I feel like she has earned this moment.

Elementary – 10pm CBS
Elementary is in the midst of weaving a compelling spiderweb of an arc for season two and tonight things become even more complex when Sherlock jeopardizes Bell’s life and is called to court to testify. There is a real possibility that Sherlock and Joan could lose their consulting detectives title which would send my favorite investigating duo in a whole new direction.
