The Dreamworks Animation film ‘Turbo’ opened in theatres earlier this year, grossing more than $280 million to date. And now, the folks over at Netflix are jumping on the bandwagon with Turbo and his Fast Action Stunt Team with the announcement they will have a global television debut called Turbo FAST on Christmas Eve, featuring the first five episodes of the first-ever original series for kids. Additional all-new episodes will also premiere throughout 2014.

‘Turbo FAST’ is a high-octane ensemble comedy that amps everything up to the extreme as Turbo and his adrenaline-fueled crew, including Whiplash, Burn, Smoove Move, White Shadow, Skidmark and Chet, go on daring new adventures, race on the coolest tracks, and take on the craziest challengers. No matter how wild things get, these snails always have each other’s backs.

The all new television show digs deeper into the crazy personalities of the snail crew and features 2D design to create a stylized look reflective of the Stunt Team’s fast-paced, souped-up world. Actor Reid Scott (‘Veep’) will provide the voice for Turbo and comedian Ken Jeong (‘Community’) will reprise his role of fan-favorite manicurist turned home shopping icon Kim Ly from the feature film.

Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of Dreamworks Animation, had this to share about the new project, “We’ve long said that Netflix is revolutionizing the television industry and now we are thrilled to officially be a part of it. They have been fantastic partners whose vision has given our characters an amazing platform to be enjoyed by families around the world”.

Mark your calendars for the debut of ‘Turbo FAST’ through Netflix on December 24. You can watch the trailer below.
