Instant Mom

Nickelodeon has placed a second season order for Instant Mom starring Tia Mowry-Hardrict, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The network has also extended the freshman comedy’s first season, ordering an additional six episodes. Instant Mom follows Mowry-Hardrict as the character Stephanie, a party girl turned instant step-mom to three children.

“In just a couple months since its debut, Instant Mom has resonated remarkably well with the Nick at Nite and NickMom audiences,” said Russell Hicks, the president of content development and production at Nickelodeon. “We’re thrilled to witness its early success alongside See Dad Run and families enthusiastic about Tia and an undeniably charismatic cast.”

Mowry-Hardrict, who is known best for her previous role as one half of the ‘Sister Sisters’, is joined by Michael Boatman (Spin City), who plays her on screen husband Charlie in the multi-camera comedy. The series also stars Sheryl Lee Ralph (Moesha), Sydney Park (Spork), Tylen Williams (Parks and Recreation) and Damarr Calhoun (Scandal).

The series comes from co-creators Warren Bell (Victorious, According to Jim) and Jessica Butler (In Plain Sight). Aaron Kaplan (The Neighbors, Wendell & Vinnie) and Howard Gould (The Jeff Foxworthy Show, Cybil) serve as executive producers.
