Hart of Dixie Season 3 Review “Family Tradition”

Family Tradition

We finally go back to where we started on this week’s Hart of Dixie, ‘Family Tradition’, with Zoe tracking down her biological father’s side of the family. However, in typical Zoe Hart style, she sabotages her chance of being accepted by freaking out and pretending her and Joel are the entertainment.

I really enjoyed seeing Zoe do something with her time off work and go searching for the family she never felt she had. With her and Joel’s relationship getting stronger and stronger, it makes total sense that she would want people around for the holidays but, because she’s grown up with all of these issues only aggravated by the prospect of big family fun times, she’s outright rejected by her cousin after revealing herself. Will this be a season-long arc for Zoe? I really hope so, because a big base camp of family is something this show lacks.

My second favourite storyline was Lemon’s, as she removes herself from her partnership with Wade in order to make an offer on Fancy’s. She may have been successful with the Rammer Jammer, and it has brought her a real friend in Wade, but Lemon Breeland doesn’t belong there and everyone knows it. I really liked how calmly Wade reacted to the news, since it could easily have been used for unnecessary drama, and their partnership has been one of my favourite things about the show for some time. I really hope we don’t lose that now that they’re not working together.

Two things I didn’t like – Linley finally snaring George and Anna Beth pressuring Lavon into committing after her parents come to visit. While I enjoyed seeing some follow-through on their non-proposal drama last week, Anna Beth’s freak out over not moving forwards with Lavon seems very forced. Can we not have more than one happy couple on the show at a time? Maybe when Zoe and Joel break up (I’m still expecting this despite all the evidence to the contrary), Lavon and AB can get married and start making babies?

What did you think of the episode? Do you like George and Linley as a couple? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
