The HBO fantasy drama Game of Thrones, based on the novels by American author George R.R. Martin, has announced the casting of one final major role – that of Styr, the Magnar of Thenn, who is the “most warlike tribe from beyond the wall”.

Styr will be played by Russian actor Yuri Kolokolnikov, who is a virtual unknown to the American viewing audience but is a long-time actor in his country, appearing in more than a couple dozen feature films, which sadly are just as hard to spell as they are, assuredly, to pronounce.

As viewers of the series will recall from the end of the third season, “the tribes are readying to potentially invade Westeros under the leadership of Mance Rayder (recurring guest star Ciarán Hinds) while spy-among-the-Wildlings Jon Snow (series regular Kit Harington) was returned injured to Castle Black with news of their movements”. It would seem that the Thenn tribe will play a very big role in this invasion.

‘Game of Thrones’ has not been given an official air date for the start of its fourth season yet, but fans can expect it sometime next spring.
