After two seasons on the air, Lifetime has pulled the plug on their racy series The Client List that starred Jennifer Love Hewitt. The series was based on the network’s hit 2010 original movie of the same name that also starred Hewitt.

The series was about Riley Parks (Hewitt), a single mother of two in Texas, who was deserted by her husband and left in financial straits. She takes a seemingly ordinary job in a day spa only to learn that sexual favors are being offered on the side.

The cast of ‘The Client List’ also included Brian Hallisay as Riley’s estranged husband Kyle, Colin Egglesfield as Riley’s brother-in-law Evan, Cybill Shepherd as Riley’s mother Linette, Loretta Devine as Riley’s boss Georgia Cummings and Rebecca Field as Riley’s best friend Lacey Jean.

According to a report at TV Line, it would seem there had been a creative direction difference between Lifetime, Sony TV and Hewitt with the latter wanting her co-star Hallisay, who is her real-life fiancé and the father of her unborn child to be the father of her character’s baby on the show, which is something the producers of the show did not want to happen.

During the second season of ‘The Client List’, the ratings fell from 2.7 million viewers for the season premiere down to 2 million for the season (nee series) finale.
