‘Back in the Game’ Cancelled by ABC November 4, 2013 ABC, Back in the Game, News ABC’s Back in the Game, a comedy about a rag-tag group of misfits and their single mom coach, is out of here. Deadline reports ABC has decided to ax the freshman series. However, Back in the Game won’t be pulled from the schedule. All 13 episodes of the series will air despite the network’s decision not to move forward with the James Caan and Maggie Lawson led comedy. While none of ABC’s new comedies have taken off in the ratings, it seems Back in the Game drew the short straw. As previously reported, the lower-rated Trophy Wife earned a full season pickup alongside The Goldbergs. Meanwhile Rebel Wilson’s Super Fun Night was given an order for four more scripts. Were you getting attached to Back in the Game? Season one of Back in the Game will continue to air Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on ABC until it completes its run.
