Discovery Channel Combines Jane Lynch with Penguins

Morgan Freeman no longer has the corner market on narrating penguin documentaries. Discovery Channel has tapped the always wonderful Jane Lynch (Hollywood Game Night, Glee) to narrate their upcoming penguin doc Penguins: Waddle all the Way, which I think we can all agree is the best title to ever be a title. Thanks to filmmaker John Downer, we get to watch three different penguin species’ life dramas play out via Spycams: Emperor penguins in Antarctica, Rockhopper penguins on the Falkland Islands, and Humboldt penguins in the Atacama Desert of Peru.

“I’ve been a big fan of Discovery’s wildlife programming for years, and I am truly thrilled to be narrating PENGUINS: WADDLE ALL THE WAY. It’s hard to go wrong with a title like that. And seriously, is there anything cuter than a penguin?” said Jane Lynch in a statement.

Penguins: Waddle all the Way will debut Saturday, November 23 at 9pm ET/PT. (So for those keeping score, the 23rd will now bring us Doctor Who, My Little Pony, Atlantis and penguin cuteness.)

Flight of the Conchords’ Bret McKenzie will be Taking Fox to Animated Space If That’s What They’re Into

As TV Guide revealed this week, Mckenzie, one half of the singing duo Flight of the Conchords, is developing an animated NASA comedy for Fox. The untitled project will poke fun at NASA’s current state by focusing on a group of bored employees at an “almost obsolete NASA space center” in Boulder, Colorado. We need this in our lives, Fox.

The Most Random News Item of the Week Goes To…

CBS logo

Vulture let the world know that CBS is contemplating a Charmed reboot. Yes, Charmed, that daffy, but compulsively watchable show about witches that ran forever on The WB. In fact, it’s still on at least once a day somewhere…so it seems if people wanted to watch it, they would just…you know, watch it, CBS. But you do whatever you feel is necessary. Personally, if we’re rebooting everything, I wouldn’t mind another round of that seminal CBS classic Baby Bob.

And with that unsettling news, this week’s News Mania comes to a close. Would you watch a Charmed reboot? Or are you with me on Baby Bob?
