Grey’s Anatomy Season 10 “Thriller” Review

Grey's Anatomy Season 10 Episode 7 Thriller (6)
Until he appeared on last night’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy, I had completely forgotten that Bailey was a newlywed. It hasn’t been that long since we’ve seen Ben – sorry, I haven’t learned his name yet. It’s curious that the writers would go through the trouble of having Bailey get married and then ship her husband off to a residency outside of Seattle. In a show where so much of the drama focuses on the personal lives of the doctors, it’s interesting that we’ve gotten little to no focus on Bailey’s new home life. I guess her conflict with Richard this season leaves room for more screen time. In this week’s episode, Bailey grappled with a few unexpected surprises from both of the men in her life.

Ben made up for lost time – he saved Zola’s wings, made sure Tuck had a fun Halloween, helped Derek’s brain mapping project, and broke the news to his wife that he quit his residency so that he could be with his family. The romantic gesture was not welcomed by his wife, who was “disappointed” in his decision. It was tough to watch the couple clash given how briefly we actually see them together.

Bailey is also out of synch with the other important man in her life, Richard. Determined to make the best use of his time, Richard is using his recovery as a teachable moment for the new doctors. Unfortunately, this means pushing Bailey off the case. It wasn’t a huge surprise that she wasn’t very receptive to the idea. He could have been a little nicer about it. Richard wasn’t all bad news last night, it was nice to see him finally apologize to Meredith.

The relationship between Christina and Meredith continues to be strained. This week, it was a belated invite to Meredith’s Halloween bash that promised to be full of kids hopped up on sugar. I hope that we don’t have to spend too much time watching these two not be as close as they usually are. I would rather see Sandra Oh’s final episodes of Grey’s Anatomy with her and her person in perfect harmony.

What did you think of this week’s episode? Have you had enough of Alex shutting down? Are you warming up to any of these new “relationships?” Shane and Yang? Really? Sound off below!
