‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 2 Announced by BBC Two

The gangsters of post-war Birmingham aren’t finished plaguing the streets just yet.

After averaging 2.4 Million viewers in season one, BBC Two has decided to renew Peaky Blinders, the gangster drama starring Cillian Murphy (The Batman Trilogy). Season two will find the Shelby family expanding their empire to the north and south, while still keeping Birmingham in their grips. Tommy’s (Murphy) attempts to go legit will be constantly thwarted as his gangster credentials earn him a spot in the Roaring ’20s high society.

“I am so pleased we will be able to continue to tell this story of a working class family living through extraordinary times in an extraordinary way” said creator and writer Steven Knight in a statement. “The ‘Peaky Blinders’ will march on to many surprising places and fight astonishing battles as the 1920s begin to roar.”

Peaky Blinders will return for a six-episode second season in 2014.
