Earlier this week, EW reported that Ben Wheatley, director of Kill Shot and Sightseers, has been tapped to direct the first two episodes of Peter Capaldi’s run as the 12th Doctor. Starz’s Outlander Casts Geillis Duncan

Lotte Verbeek (The Borgias) has landed the key role of Geillis Duncan in Starz’s upcoming adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s seven-part bestselling series Outlander. She and the time-traveling Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) become fast friends…even though Geillis is known for being a master manipulator.

In the Flesh Season 2 Begins Production

BBC America announced this week that production on a second season of the twisty zombie series In the Flesh has begun. Things will pick up with Kieren Walker, a PDS (Partially Deceased Syndrome), trying to keep a low profile in his community while stashing back money for his escape fund. Meanwhile, public opinion continues to be split as the Pro-Living Party, Victus, gains seats in the government which in turn, causes the Undead Liberation Army (ULA) to strike back.

“With its uniquely naturalistic take on the zombie genre, told as much from the point of view of the Zombies, or PDS Sufferers themselves as that of the locals forced to live alongside them, In the Flesh is original, dramatic, funny, politically engaged and never less than 100% emotionally truthful,” says Jim O’Hanlon, Director. “It’s rare to find a series that is so exciting, entertaining and humorous, yet has so much to say about the world we live in today. The characters have genuine verve, wit, color and depth and I can’t wait to get started on bringing them to life.”

In the Flesh‘s six-part second season is scheduled to air in 2014 on BBC America.

The 90-minute special will feature Gaga and The Muppets combining forces to put on a show featuring holiday favorites and Gaga hits…let’s just hope Kermit never saw Gaga’s infamous dress, or the whole thing could turn into a fiasco.

The Most Random News Item of the Week Goes to…

amc tv logo

In addition to renewing, Small Town Security for a third season, AMC also decided that what the world really needs is a series about the world of competitive arm wrestling. AMC describes the series thusly: “King of Arms will follow the members of five arm wrestling clubs, and their friends and families, as they hit the road and wager their rent money, reputations and even their relationships in pursuit of victory.” That doesn’t sound depressing at all, does it?

King of Arms will debut alongside the second half of The Walking Dead so don’t expect it to be cancelled anytime this decade.
